In the FAQ write up, it suggests glueing the gaskets in place on the cover with hardening Permatex. I guess once you do this on the tensionizer side, when you go to install you would need to "slip" the tensionizer end piece into it's trough before bolting th ecover in place.

yes, i run a razor blade along the flat surface and trim them. put a nice dab of yamabond or your favorite sealant on those seams _________________

If the head was decked, be sure the cover was milled also. Otherwise you'll probably have a nice oil leak in the near future.
You don't wanna replace that gasket twice, especially with the motor in the car!

thanks guys, this is what I thought. I'm following the posting by Paul on how to replace the covers using the Permatex hardening on the gaskets to adhere them to the covers. Then after it dries, use a little non-hardening to attach to the block.
I'll trim the excess gasket off with a razor as suggested.

I use sealant on the front cover gasket where it forms the reservoir for the
tensioner.
I've had a couple of otherwise tight engines develop a leak there,
and it always looks like the oil's seeping right though the gasket.
Yeah, it really can't be, but it's cheap insurance to glue that bit
of the gasket.
