Subject: weird e91 window openings

When I came out to take in the garbage can this a.m., the windows on my 2008 328it were open -- fronts both the exact same amount and the back open a different (than front) but same (as easchother) amount. The car was unlocked as well.

Is there some emergency or hazard safety thingie at work here or is it OCD neighborhood pranks?

our X3 has a function that I cannot get it to repeat when I want it to, but when opening the car it will roll down the front windows all the way and the rear's part way to cool the car (i think) before you get in.
maybe you hit the open button without knowing? our X3 will actually "hear" the open command from within our house from about 40/50ft.

BMW must have improved the transmitters on the keys--the key for my 2004 330Ci doesn't work much farther than ten feet from the car.

My E46 had this same feature. If I held down the unlock button on the key, it would role down the front windows, and open the little back "wing" windows to cool down the interior of the car.

Of course, I had to be so close to the car that by the time it got done opening the windows I was opening the door to get in, so it wasn't something that I used very often.
