Where does the second battery lead do? (runs off to the left and taped ) and how do you relocate it to the trunk when you move the battery to the trunk? short GROUND second lead goes to a clean metal
ground point - you drill a hole and clean off all
paint, like the rear bulkhead behind the back seat.
Paint the ground point after your connector is tight
to prevent oxidation

run your long POSITIVE cable up under the carpet,
along the rocker box, under the left side seat support,
and out through the fire wall above and to the left
of the pedal box - using a rubber gromet for sealing.
The E30 battery junction block mounts to the rear of
the brake fluid res., below the fuse block. New
ground wire from the engine block to the inner
fender metal.
You don't need to remove the carpet! just feed & push
it along the left side against the inner rocker panel

The lead on the left is your main harness into the car and your electrical system. The one on the right goes to your starter.

When relocating to the trunk you have several options. Find an existing hole in either the right, center or left and route your heavy guage wiring to the back. If no hole is available you will have to make one. What you will need is a distribution block that you will place in your engine compartment somewhere (your choice) and the two wires that go to the battery will go to this block instead. Then, from this block you will run a new heavy gauge wire all the way to the back of the car where the battery is in the trunk. The ground will run from the battery to any body area in the trunk of your choosing.

Do a search here and you should find plenty of hits with pics on all of the various ways others have done it. The E30 cable conversion is easy and popular.

Choose your battery wisely. I would recommend a sealed battery versus the type that require venting since it will be enclosed in your trunk.

What if you use the cut off switch and run one end from each. Then mount it in the front near the radiator? close to where the battery came from the factory. Then run the long postive cable from the trunk to the starter.
