I've restored 15 volkswagens over the years and shifted my interests because I got a great deal on a 76 02. First look the guy wanted $1000 I was interested and scrapped up the money. Car needed very little work but I couldn't buy the car because a new bill came up. So I call him six months later the car is still forsale but he wants $500 same story came up with the money but something came up and couldn't buy it. Two weeks ago today the guy offered the car to me for $350. So I bought it with 80,000 original miles. This car sat for three years in a storage yard not running. When I dragged it to my brothers bar I sprayed some engine start in the carb and jumped it. Car runs great! Solved a few minor problems like engine run on and drilled out the trunk lock. Passenger side window was broken so I replaced it. This car has a lot of life left in it, the motor is strong there isn't any real visable problem rust and nothing more then a few dings in the original paint. This first car has convinced me to start my new hobby with 2002s and the volkswagens go on hold for awhile until an opp can't be passed up. I'll post pics shortly.

How did you solve the engine run-on? I can't get rid of mine!
I kinda let the clutch out while turning the key off to avoid it.
I'd be grateful for any help in this dept. _________________ 1972 2002

I just drove the car hard and poured a small amount of water into the carb while the car was running. Problem solved. For a little bit more added help I used seafoam in the gas tank. Stuff seemed to work pretty well.
