Subject: Rent-a-wreck???

Hi Guys,

Travelling to the USA for some racing with our home built single seater. I was looking at renting a van, nut seems there aren't many van for about 8 people for rent....

Anybody heard of this Rentawreck company. Sounds kind of dodgy from the reviews i read.
Anybody have tips for renting a van in detroit?

I might be willing to ship some parts over from europe as a reward ;-)

Try out hotwire.com. I have gotten great deals there lately. I was in ATL during Easter weekend and got a full size car from Avis through Hotwire for $9.95/day.

I have already done my rental reservation for the V@theV week in May, again through Hotwire, for $12.95/day, full-size car also.

I rent a car 10 to 15 times a year, and have found that Rent-A-Wreck's rates are not much different from the regular guys' (Hertz, Avis, Enterprise, etc.)

Thanks, i'll have a look at hotwire.
I have tried finding passenger van rental search on google. Most hits are moving vans etc. Major companies don't seem to stock vehicles larger than 7 prs.

We are flying to Detroit and competing at the Michigan International Speedway, Brooklyn MI.

There are two '02 owners in the group (myself included) and one e12 owner.

Your input is greatly appreciated!

When is the event? I am in Michigan and know of some others. Maybe we can get an 02 gathering to come down and watch.

Its from 15 till 18th may at the MIS.
The event is an international design competition, where student have to design and build their own cars. Prizes are won on design, cost, marketing, endurance and handling. I suggest watching the endurance on Saturday. It has the most action.
Our car is only one of two lightweight concepts. Full carbon chassis with a 450cc engine at 55bhp. Currently running on E85 eco friendly fuel.

the event: http://students.sae.org/competitions/formulaseries/fsae/
our team: www.dutracing.nl

Would be great to meet up! The e12 owner told me he was in touch with someone about a 5 speed tranny in detroit. Anyone from here?
PS we can still very much use a test track in the MIS area......
