Subject: The Start of the 74 redo

So I bought this 74 on ebay for $2500 and when I drove it home at night it vibrated like no tomorrow. Looked at it the morning and the center bearing was competely demolished.
So here what I started with:
74 2002 suspension redone with lowered HR spring, Bilstiens and
complete urethane components. Has an Ansa and has some rust on the fender and below the gas tank.
Here is what I've done:
Resealed the engine since it had oil leaks everywhere.
Installed new IE urethane motor mounts.
Refurbished the slop in the shifter, much better now
Relocated the battery to the truck with a rear strut bar.
Installation of VDO series 1 guages and older Becker Mexico cassette, and it works, into a redone center console
Refurbished the wheels and installed new Dunlops, they feel better
Next Step:
Repair rust problems
Start removing paint for clean layer of primer and end up with and Inka 74 with euro bumpers and a clean interior.
Pics below, will keep you statused on progress

That's a very nice setup....any problems installing the gauges, especially the oil pressure, I am planning on doing the same on my car. Could you please send me some info on where to get necessary parts.

Thanks

Nope, had the console put together minus one side. I had everything pre wired with connectors so it was easy to hook it up when going in. Let me know and I'll take some picks when I have it apart in the next couple of weeks.

Ok so instead of fixing the rust and painting my 74, I found a 73 already painted. These pics aren't great but the car has been completely stripped down and painted in Inka, which is what I wanted. So I need to get the undercarriage ready for coating and I'll be sending out the subs for powdercoating. More updates to follow.

Took the old subs out and have them out for powder coating. Waiting for some parts from Blunt. Here is how the undercoating is coming along.

Looks like you'll get it done in no time now!

The painting process always seems to take forever. You were lucky to find that shell...

So I haven't posted any pics in a while, but here is where I'm at. Had all the pieces Cad plated silver, still need to get another batch done. Subs powdercoated and every piece either new or I rebuilt it. Got done doing the B-Quiet insulation in the cab, and my stainless brake lines finally came in. Hope to have the wiring done next week and then the headliner can go in. So I'm getting there. Big THANKS to Blunt for all of the pieces that will start going in.

Looking great! Thats awsome that you could find that shell and save yourself all the time and money prepping and painting it. Its going to look brilliant when done - cant wait!

Question, any particular reasoning you went the the "B-Quiet" over other brands?

Tom

When I checked some Resto shops in So Cal, everybody was using either Dynamat, B-Quiet or other stuff. I went with B-Quiet because I did't want to pay the ridiculous Dynamat pricing.

Haven't posted in a few months but it's getting closer. Had 2 seperate batchs of cad plating done. Interior is almost done waiting to put the rug in last, motors back from the machinist and has been ported, polished and balanced with a 292. Hopefully I'll have it on the road within 3 weeks.

Well I haven't posted since October but I have been working on the car. Put the 5 speed in along with the IE SS Exhaust and everything underneath is tight. Have the motor in, need to finish the wiring and the SS brakelines. Brakelines need to be tweaked, but shouldn't be an issue. Had Matt over at Ronin Autowerks curve my distributor, great service and a great guy to deal with, so I can't wait to fire it up. Interior is almost complete, pulled the dash so I could route my wires easier, and got the rug and Coco mats in. hopefully next post I'll be driving it.

did it come in a spray can or did you use a spray gun and mix it yourself?

I need to do this soon!

What's the phone number?

Spray Can, no mixing just make sure surface is clean. Here's the link, it's in the catalog section under body shop.
