I know, you gets what you pay for mostly, but I was trying to find something that explains belt designs and specifications.

I am getting a replacement for my little single stage snow blower.
It is 35x1/2 v-belt that drives the auger.

I am guessing there must be some strength differences to warrent the
$5.99 to $22 price range I am seeing online.

expensive official replacement part says it is made of Aramid fiber.

The cheap one --Gates Belt at Best harware For refrigerators, washing machines, pumps, stokers, woodworking machines, etc. Do it belts feature Concave Sidewalls to give the belt full-grip on the pulley sides. Rubber Filled Cords prevent separation of cores and rubber. Protective Fabric Jacket (made from special compounded rubber stock) for silent running, oil and heat-resistance. 1/2" top x 40 bevel (For A Pulley).

My guess is that this one might last 5 minutes.

You tried looking around the Gates site, Ray?
www.gates.com

It's a quite extensive site. I did find a PDF chart on there that shows the horsepower/RPM capabilities of their v-belts, but I got lost and can't find it again.
