Subject: usb music in my car

I'm really liking putting my analog tunes to digital. 78's,33s, and my newer CDs on my PC, then "synchonizing" them to a flash drive. I bought an RCA mini stereo at Kmart for the beach and it rocks! It has a usb port on the front and will play and record to/from it. A friend of mine was looking at a Bose system and when she heard mine, she bought one!

Bear in mind that the RCA is a throwaway item. If it breaks, throw it away.

The itunes/ipod prices kind of piss me off. I paid $75 for my mini stereo with usb port and $15 for a 2gig flash drive. I want more for less money. OK, the PC cost money too, but I need it for other reasons. (porno!)

I also got a $50 2gig mp3 player by Phillips. It does work great. BUT, I have to use a cord to attach it to anything. Why?!? I want to get rid of wires and moving parts.

HERE'S the problem. I got an Fm transmitter that I can plug a usb drive into and it plays through my FM radio. The idea sounds great. At first. When I try to play it, there is so much interferrence/distortion that I can't use it. The flash drive or player is great, but the FM transmitter just doesn't work.

The THING I bought is labeled "IQFM". The website no longer shows up on my google searches. It's a device that plugs into a cig lighter. It has several FM frequencies you can tune to. And with the usb connection, will power your usb player. Sounds nice, doesn't work.

Anybody got suggestions?

Thanks in advance. 2002faq rocks!

Just get a deck with USB front input. I have a creative labs MuVo v100 flash-based mp3 player that plugs right into my laptop, no cords required. and they sell decks with USB connections right in the front. My dad has one. Being a Canadian, he bought a car radio for use in the house, along with a seperate power supply to power it. It runs colossal a/d/s/ (back when they were ADS) L-910 monitors but I digress.. cruise crotchfield for a while and you'll find something you can use... ;)

here is the mp3 player. i got it for taking walks, and since it is flash-based i can eventually upgrade to running... ;)

and yes that is the cheapest place to get it.

Hey Robspeed,

Thanks for the Crutchfield tip. I had forgetten them. They have a real store about 3 hrs from me up I81.

I found that I got better luck with putting the FM modulator, (sounds like something Marvin the Martian would say) I put it the cig lighter, not the accessory outlet and being closer to the antenna, works much, much better. 350 plus songs on one little stick with no moving parts. Yeah!

Thanks again, Jim.
