I've got a friend who has an old wheel in his storage building. It's been there, perhaps thirty years or so. Are there any disadvantages to reinventing this wheel? I've read in other places that if a wheel were say, square, that it might have more rolling resistance than a conventional circular wheel. Is there any truth to this? What could be the advantage of a wheel being say an ovoid shape? TIA

Because I'm quite possibly the world's biggest dork, I plotted out what this would look like.... _________________

Perspective can effect reality. If everything were too obvious, we would not see many new meaningful inventions. Seemingly inane responses to commonplace observations can lead to unexpected results. Occasionally, those results lead to good things. Not every patent leads to great wealth and benefit. Wasn't it T.A. Edison who said 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration?
Is your graph of a carbon composite wheel? Who cares? I like it!

Except for the pleasing asthetics and historical correctness of a clown car, I can't think of any. 8^P _________________ Mike
