On what true 02 fanatics think about these clear reflectors I made to replace the god-awful amber ones. I don't really know if I want to use them yet so I have not made the other one, thought I would see what kind of response I got from here.... so please, be honest... whatcha think?

I commend you on your "thinking out of the box" idea but, I like the the look without the marker. IMHO, there is just no way to make those markers look good.

Here's another one from a distance... and trust me, I defiantly would love to not have the reflectors but weld and a paint job is not in the near future, so I had to think up of something else.

In your particular case with the Italian Turns and Golf color I believe the clear reflector looks nice. The amber would look kinda "busy" probably, especially with those Italian turns. If you had stock Euro or US amber turns I think the amber reflectors would look fine on Golf.

It varies with the turn signal scheme and the car color in my opinion.

About the only thing that keeps me away from Inka and Colorado is the amber turns just don't do it for me with an "orange" backdrop.

Yet amber on Chamonix looks sweet!

In your case I like it very much!...Nice touch!

AGREED... with the Italian turns and Golf color the amber reflectors just look goofy, clashes with everything really bad.
Thanks for the feedback guys! I might just go ahead and make one for the other side.

Good on ya for doing that for yourself. Something was bothering me about it and I couldn't put my finger on it; then I realized what it was. The texture of the side marker contrasts with the turn signal. If you could somehow get a different reflecter plastic that is at least smoother and maybe has subdued horizontal lines like the turn signal, I think you would hit the mark really well.

If you really want side markers I think the clear ones are really nice! But as others j=have said, the side markers in general don't look very good and I find they really brake up the flow of the body.

Agreed, I really would just like to get rid of them all together... but is there an alternative to welding and a paint job?

Hmmm, big amber turn signals on my project that I've just changed to golf. I'm not quite there yet but eww, doesn't do it for me either. Count me in for one set of the clears.

by not using the correct color, which is amber at the front of a vehicle and red at the rear as normally required by law. You could have an accident mistaking the front or rear side of a vehicle at night, causing you to swerve in the wrong direction trying to avoid a crash. You don't see aircraft changing the color of lights on a plane trying to look different as it compromises safety.

When I look for the front of a vehicle, its usually the headlights that tip me off.

Innovative solution. I like it! F1 does have a point, but if you keep the front clear and leave the back Red, it will probably be enough of a distinction to disregard safety issues.

So then all those 02's out there that don't have the US reflectors or have them shaved are edangering other motorists out on the road??? C'mon...
you wouldn't do alot of things to an aircraft that you would to a car. Isn't this why we own these cars... to mod them, or put our own style to them???

The contrast seems to be working for your special case. You can use chrome plated bulbs that light amber no problem.

Although at the Palo Alto meet I noticed a Malaga 02? that had some sort of a chrome rectangle that covers this area. I thought about kicking it up a notch and fabricate a plaque that says "02" instead of just a chrome one..I just don't know where to start!
