Subject: improved door brake group buy

Here are some details.
####Part of the proceeds will go to the FAQ board####

$70 per brake shipped to any location with a USPS zip code (Puerto Rico, Guam, Hawaii, Alaska included). International shipping is $10 per brake and takes about 10 days to arrive.
-Includes new brake, new pin. The driver's and passenger's are the same. Drop in fit, no mods to the car.
-$5 extra if a pin upgrade is needed. This is required if the door brake bracket located on the body's door pillar is ovaled out or worn to a larger diameter. I can also get new door brake brackets for around $4 each.

Here is a previous e-bay link.

I have 40 pairs now but can get more
duration of the buy is 2 weeks
More pics to be posted soon.

Are these somehow better than the new MobileTradition units? They cost about the same?

Where did they come from?

I installed one I got from 2002 AD. Much better than the stock one. Here's what it looks like.

What's the difference between the two styles?

They use a dual ball detent to provide mild dampening of the door's movement which prevents flyaway doors and gives a more solid feel. They also have a more cushioned door limit which is kinder to your '02's pillar bracket. Also, they hold the door at mid point while the '02's door brakes don't.

You state that you have 40 pairs.

Shouldn't this thread be in the classifieds?

It sounds as though it is product that you own and are trying to sell.

Am I missing something here?

It's a group buy since there is savings being offered for a quantity. Steve K can transfer this to classifieds if he wishes. I'm just announcing it here first. It's going on e-bay for over 150 plus shipping so there is approximately 20 bucks in savings. Please call me if you have concerns about this. I prefer not to discuss this here. You have my e-mail.

It may be to others. 20 bucks is 20 bucks. Feel free not to get in if you think it's not enough. Take your chance on e-bay.

Ben,

Mike Hannigan designed them and are made in Germany (Stamped on the part). He seems to think that this is much better.

Armond,

I would like to purchase a set. I am out of town in OH for a finance class (two more weeks). Anyhow I think I get paid on Friday, so by then I'll contact you for a transaction. I will trust you and your judgement since I know you are very into making these cars better than they already are. Please save me a set. I am not sure about the new pins, etc. However when I get home I'll look at what I have. Honestly I never looked at the door stops; hopefully it will make the door function (open and close better). Thanks and I hope you are doing well with your newbie. You could always make him Treasurer. Peace.

This looks like the one I installed on my drivers side door. It's very well constructed and works like a charm. Can't go wrong with this type IMHO.

THE ONES I HAVE MADE ARE CONSTRUCTED A LITTLE DIFFERENTLY
FROM THE MOBILE TRADITION UNITS .
THE M-T ONES HAVE A WELDED ON SLEEVE FOR THE SILL PIN .
MY CHECKS ARE MADE FROM E-21 UNITS THAT HAVE BEEN SHORTENED
AND HAVE A TWO PIECE PRESS IN STAINLESS STEEL SLEEVE .
I HAVE ALWAYS SUPPLIED MINE WITH NEW SILL PINS AND EXTRA CLIPS .

EITHER WAY WORKS . I HAVE MADE ABOUT 2 DOZEN SETS SO FAR AND
WAS MAKING THEM LONG BEFORE THE M-T ONES WERE AVAILABLE .
I HAVE NOT MADE MANY SINCE THE OTHER KINDS HAVE COME ON THE MARKET .

These door brakes are becoming hard to come buy and expensive. ANYONE out there looking to get in on a group buy for these? Supply and demand would dictate a reduced price........!

Thanks,
