We created this message board just about two years ago for the Neue Klasse BMW's; the sedans of the early sixties.
I recommend that you have a look at ANY of the postings there.
You will not find one personal attack or unkind word towards another person in any posting. Not one.
Members stay on the topic, ask and answer questions, request and offer helpful suggestions, and maintain a high level of interest in these models with a determined, sometimes fanatical, attitude to keep these cars on the road.
Steve and Rob - I do not understand why we have a "Personal Attacks" forum here. That is tantamount to saying, "Hey, we want your vitriolic diatribes on our forum." Do we really want that here?
It's a new year. I would hope that as we all move forward we can all make a personal commitment in 2007 - a New Year's resolution if you will - that we can stay focused on why we all came here in the first place.
Steve and Rob - Please eliminate that Personal Attacks forum, too.
Thanks,
Bob

I am little fed up, just as Bob is obviously. Sorry bob.
As many people here know, I am a proactive person. Thats what I am paid to do, solve problems (Software Engineer). I have the means and know-how to build whatever we need for this board, but no one wants to do anything about it. I am the lead engineer for a 10 million dollar a year web site, I think I can handle this little site but when I offer I am told that "everything is fine and nothing needs to change". I guess thats the way its gonna be then.
A simple anonymous "flag" on each post would allow a logged in user to hit that button only once for a given post. Then if X other logged in users flag that post, hit deletes permanently. I dont know if everyone would like it but it sure would shut everything up pretty quickly. Thats exactly how Craigslist does it.
Anyway, sorry all. Sorry Bob. Long first week back :(. _________________

shape your destiny.
We went through that shit- and I can, and will, say shit here- with the roadfly forums. The 2002 one is pretty dead now, whereas we're still having fun.
The thing is, once you start squashing people for arbitrary reasons, you're stuck with it. Yes, it really sucks that Esty and Al hate each other. Life's like that.
Once we start censoring posts, we're screwed. It kills a board faster than rants, attacks and raves. I for one think that moving posts is about as far as it should go- once they start disappearing, so will we.
As to the personal attacks forum, it was a way to deflect what was a nasty- but funny- string of posts. A way to get crap out of the genral forum without censoring.
Yeah, none of that censorship here. That's for other boards.

Maybe the reason FAQ has "doubled size" in the last year is because Roadfly became too much of a hassle to use( yes: I am one of the original Roadfly founder/users who "defected" to build FAQ). There is a natural increase in the amount of Internet users who have found a resource for revitalizing their 2002/1600/whatever. BUT, It sounds like you all have let this little slice of BMW paradise devlolve into some type of WWR ring, and I am intrigued but dismayed. BTW, Hey "Esty", whoever you are, cool off and do some research before you post here. We began this Board called "FAQ" with a small group of 2002 enthusiasts. You should exercise "keyboard restraint" before you besmearch any person on this Board, especially the people who spent countless hours posting how to do its and pictures, and you should learn to respect those who committed themselves to this Marque and Model. They took time to help neophytes along the way, and they still do so. Your tenor sounds rude. Pleae, have some respect ,and display some restraint.
