Its long past the carpet wars. However its her holier then thou attitude towards restoration and thinking the right way to dosomething isn't the right way when you can do it cheaper. Fine shes allowed to be objective. But when she puts in her 1/8th of a cent(Thats really what it is worth) into every thread talking about carpet thats when I get pissed off. Has she ever bought a carpet from Al? Has She ever bought a part from Maximilien? The answer is no yet she trys to defame on both accounts. Her advice is worth the same amount that it cost to put up her blog. Therefore its worth nothing unless you draw your own conclusion from it.

Esty shouldn't you be trying to fix the nose of your new 2002 with pop rivets or aluminum foil or velcro or something?

how i tend to my cars has nothing to do with the subject of this thread..

to remind you of exactly what that is so you can focus your analysis on the issues...

it seems larson isn't responding to his customers email, telephone calls, owes at least several people, according to my read of this thread, products, money or both

I've found Estys threads entertaining and informative. Not everyone want's a concourse level restoration. There are quite a few of us that enjoy doing things " on the cheap " . As adults I'm sure we can figure out whether we want to do something " factory " or get by with something more reasonable ( in price ) and maybe not correct but functional none the less.

I would expect that anyone here can make those decisions. I've never seen Esty post that her way is the only way to do a certain thing, she just offers observations of what has worked for her.

You on the other hand have made more than a few "holier than thou" posts. I just did a quick search of your user name and found plenty.

Now I'm a fairly new guy to the FAQ but not to automobile forums ( check my handle " pigsdofly " on the vwvortex for an example), and this may have all happened to you because of the carpet fiasco. May I suggest that you let it go. Have you noticed that Esty tends to just get one dig in unless someone ( like you ) prods her into more. Yes I prodded her a few times in this thread but if you look they were all with a joking type attitude and she responded likewise.

Just chill my young 2002er, you'll enjoy life alot more.

The injury Jeff mentioned was a palm full of stitches from a broken wiper arm on a 76 2002. Just a freak accident, but it knocked me out for a few days, no doubt. Thanks for the concern Jeff, but I will survive.

Anyway, Jeff, headliner is gone as of Friday afternoon, sorry for the delay. Todd, yours is going Tuesday.

Anyone else waiting for email replies, they will come soon, I promise. Working 70-80 hours a week in the shop has taken most of my time these days, so email has become secondary. We've been down this road before, and as everyone knows, ALL my customers eventually get their stuff. I've admitted to being slow in the past, so it's no secret. When people insist on a speedy delivery, we can usually accomodate, but not always. Anyway, look for an announcement from me, and Seams Perfect in a new thread.

Al

Al,

Still no headliner and I'm feeling the heat. Can you please update me on the status, tracking number, method of shipment, etc.?

Thanks

Jeff

Hey Jeff,

Are you kidding me? It went Canada Post Expedited, same as all our packages go. I have the waybill somewhere, I will find the number tomorrow, and figure out where it is.

This is just one more reason we're taking time off. Canada Post and USPS have gone so far downhill, it disgusts me.

I agree on the whole Ca US post thing. customs can't get it together. Al gave me a tracking number for my wool carpet set and it showed it still in Canada when it was at my house!

It's too bad they can't get it together, between customs and USPS how are we (US and Canada) supposed to support each other? I just hope that we can find the headliner soon. My wife is about to take my head off for not getting the interior out of her dining room, and I refuse to put all that stuff back in until the headliner is done. We see who blinks first <grin>

Any news Al?

Jeff

I had my stuff sent too... still not here. I got airmail because I needed it ASAP, but still nothing. I would be more pissed off, but I am also waiting on stuff from Lee from the Massive Brake purchase I made back in late August... both vendors are doing their best to organise stuff for me if it does not arrive shortly.

Still nothing on the headliner. And yet, I received a package today with four wheels from Canada that was sent December 1st. Al, please answer your phone. I can't wait any longer and dont want to have to pay twice for something that you promised was already shipped a month ago. You mentioned in this thread about tracking down a waybill number. Please let me know what the number is and how to track it.

I have never bought anything from Seams Perfect, and seeing threads like these is most of the reason I never will. I'm sure the product is great, but when you operate a business you should answer your phone and talk to the people that put food on your table.

Just my two cents.

Latest news is... there isn't any. No returned calls, no returned emails, and no headliner. I also got an email from Todd in Austrailia in almost an identical predicament.

Does anyone out there have a new headliner they can part with? I doubt I can wait for Al to finally live up to his word.

Jeff

Latest news... Not a Merry Christmas. Got a house full of people and a dining room full of BMW parts waiting for a headliner that was paid for 3 months ago and promised several times without result. I finally received an email from Al telling me that he would send a replacement when he could get the material and make another one. That was supposed to be a week and a half ago and I even gave him a UPS account number for him to overnight me a replacement. NOTHING.

I'm going to use the dispute resolution service from PayPal to either get my product or my money.

Can anyone recommend an alternative source for a good headliner to DIY install? I don't think Larson is going to deliver and I can't wait another 3 months for him to feel enough heat to do it.

Thanks

Jeff

If you paid with your credit card, then dispute the transaction and you will get your money back ASAP and the charge will be reversed on Al's end. If he can't produce proof that he sent it IE a waybill etc then they will go after him and will get the money asap.

My rule is only use a credit card when dealing with any vedor. I am also very weary of vendors that charge upfront with no visibility of a ship date. I seem to recal that Lee V only charged a deposit and then balance once the product was ready to be shipped. This is the way it should be.

Funny I am selling some big brake parts to a guy on the FAQ and he expressed some serious reservations about sending money and dealing with a Canadian as he too was waiting for stuff from Al and was also told it was lost in the mail :).

I have probably had over 200 transactions via post and only ever had one not work out - recently with Cam A who sent a ring and pinion and to date it hasn't arrived, we worked out a deal and he stayed in contact the whole time. Also when I send anything via parcel post, I keep the receipt and way bill just in case, sometime it takes a while but it usually gets there. IMO 6 weeks is about the Max time it should take from Canada to US.

Good luck.
