Thanks again to hosts Jonathan and Brad for a great meet today. Hope this was the first of many more to come. Weather started off gray with some sprinkles, but eventually turned into a very nice afternoon.
I enjoyed seeing a wide variety of cars and meeting and chatting with folks too.
There were about 30 cars: lots of 02s, 6-8 CS coupes, couple of E28 M5s, a 320i, a 530i, and my 635. Oh and a really nice Porsche 72 911E Targa which brought back fond memories of my Porsche experience years ago.
Long distance award went to John (Wallace?) who came from Williamsburg, VA.
Izzzy the Isetta won the Patina award. Bill Williams Touring took first in the hotly contested Peoples' Choice award.
Some pix follow. Wish I had taken more, but I spent the time talking!

Great turnout for "inaugural" event. Good to see the group and meet those new to the scene. I appreciate those driving in from C'ville and Richmond to spend some time together. Thanks again to Jonathan , Brad and the sponsors (Paul W./ http://atspeedmotorsports.com and Maximillian). _________________ John in VA

"Yet today, I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of the earth." Lou Gehrig, July 4, 1939 at Yankee Stadium on Lou Gehrig Appreciation Day ...
"Today, I am both humbled and honored to receive this Patina Award on behalf of Izzy, the luckiest car on the face of the earth. I shall work hard to assure that Izzy remains the POS that he is today . . ." -- Otis (aka David and Patti) on Behalf of Izzy, 9/30/06, Herndon.
Yes, I have found my niche -- I cannot possibly compete with Bill, John, Doug, etc. in the looks department. But, the bottom of the barrel is mine. Indeed, abandon hope, all ye who think that they can competed for the coveted Patina awards at these events. I might have to put the side boards back on Hector the Monster Truck, in order to haul away all of the bounty that I anticipate collecting from future events.
In that regard, thank you so much for the Mr. Clean car kit. I even read the instructions. We can't promise that we'll use it (Patti, for example, has never washed a car in her entire life -- hey, she might break a nail or something). But I'll display it proudly in my trophy case -- which as of now, contains exactly one trophy (i.e., the Mr. Clean car kit).
Brad, Anne Marie, Jonathan -- that was, indeed, a spendid event. We had a great time and, as you know, stayed until the very end. For those of you who have never eaten at the Car Pool, the mini-burgers are sinful and addictive. And did you see all those beer taps? 99 taps of beer on the wall, 99 taps of beer! Thanks to Dave the Bartender for taking such good care of us.
Also, one benefit of having a POS for a car, is that I don't really care who climbs in it, paws all over it, kicks the tires, etc. In that connection, I am glad that many of you, and your kids, had the chance to sit in Izzy. I hereby promise that once I put the engine back in the car, I will give everyone who wants one, an Isetta ride. We'll run circles around Bill's Touring -- literally.
Again, Brad, Anne Marie, Jonathan -- thanks so much. Hopefully this is an annual thing -- count us in.
PS- thanks also to those of you who said that they liked Hector. We've worked hard to achieve that battering-ram, scare-the-neigobors look (what did you think of the Jason hockey mask hanging from the rear-view mirror?). Hector had a good time; I even treated him to a tank of premium gas (although he really had hoped to see the cute Mustang convertible).

Good fun yesterday! Thanks to Jonathan and Brad+Anne Marie for a great day out. The ride home was sunny and the traffic along 29 (for those who know the road) was moving along at 70mph -- no cops anywhere. Wheeeee.
My wife had a higher and better use of our digi camera yesterday (I know, I know..), so no pics from me. _________________ MichaelP

Thanks to Jonathan, Brad, and Anne Marie!
I appreciate the opportunity to tag along with Brad, Anne, and MichaelP up to the big event. About 15 '02s and 10 coupes, plus others.....a 2 hour "old", new TwinTurbo Coupe.(It couldn't be helped really, the poor guy had just bought it and was driving it home)
Cool to be able to meet the community in person and put a face with an FAQ handle.
A really fun and enjoyable event!
Let's do it again soon.
Regards,
Randy Bryant
