I agree, Steve. This was such a pleasant little topic, and then it got all nasty. Hate how that happens.

And yes, there is a difference from east to west. Being a long time Torontonian, I tend to sound a little different than most native Vancouverites. Not huge, but people from other countries can hear the difference. Go all the way east, and oh my, that's a whole other world. In Nova Scotia, they don't drive a car to the bar, they drive a care to the bare.

locking the threads achieves one thing: it makes the thread DIE, and it makes the reason why it died very clear.

you'd hate, as would steve and rob, for them to make the ip's open...but they don't want that, they must like the controversy.... in spite of overwhelming favor for showing ip's and requiring registration to post, they still allow it....the members want it, me too, the admin doesn't....you don't want it either, it'd remove your ability to always misdirect the truth and facts by insinuating everyone that posts anonymously's me...unlike your little bitch, k-priss, i'm not afraid to say what i feel to you or anyone....

the problem is that opening the IPs doesnt help when people use proxies. steve and i can see the IP at the click of a button, and see what else has been posted from that IP, including the various names used. if we opened the IPs, all youd see is the IP for that post. unless you want to take notes on all the IPs used, its easier to use it from the admin window. ive outted "dutch" before when i saw it was him. the other hit-and-run posters have been using proxies, and its pointless seeing a proxy IP.

the other thing is, i dont think showing the IPs for each post is as easy as you might think. it involves reprogramming the php for the page to show it. our resident PHP expert is busy (i think we wore him out!) with his other life and so we have to muddle through without.... if thats alright, that is...

How long do you think Rob T, Dave V, Jack F and Ray K would have lasted if they were sucked into war zone over and over again. When we singled out Max, he addressed the issues directly with his customers and the rest of the people (non-customers) were just noise. He dealt with my concerns quite skillfully.

Anthony, look, with all due respect, you know nothing about the situation between Zenon and I. We were old friends, and we are not friends any longer. I'm not 100% sure why, but such is life. Was my poke a little below the belt? Yes and no. He is unemployed, and he does live in his parent's basement. No one will dispute that.

I actually hold Zenon's technical knowledge, and his opinions in high regard. So much so, that I have even offered him a job in my shop on multiple occasions. When he said no, I offered him contract work doing electronics, and Megasquirt installs. He still said no. If he accepted the first offer, he would now be into his 2nd year of apprenticeship, gainfully employed, well respected by me, and on his way to a decent career.

Without giving me a proper answer, he simply said no. Not only that, he said no, and told me what he really thought of me, 3 weeks AFTER he, Anita, myself, and another friend went out for a concert and a night of drinking. All was well, and Zenon had no problem drinking my beer, and yucking it up with me. I'm still confused where it all went wrong, and why he started sending silly pictures of me to Esty. That considered, you can see why I might take a below the belt jab from time to time. I won't apologise for it.

As for the rest, I am not Rob T, Jack F, or any of the others. I am Al Larson, and my shops are doing just fine, thanks. They ARE my main focus of course, and you might have noticed that I have not been on the boards for a llllloooooooong time. Occasionally, it's fun for me to come in and go a few rounds with Steve....errrr. ....Esty. That's all.

I take it hook, line and sinker? Guess again. It was me who started these, not her. Fun for me, nothing more. Her blog has really done nothing negative to my business, and I really do enjoy laughing at her. Noe of these flame wars have actually made me angry. Well, they did a few months ago, but not this latest round. She never set the bait to reel me in, but I sure had an easy time of it with her.

i think most of here aren't stupid....and do understand how ip's can be mask'd but how does your educational post here prevent requiring people to register to post...

i believe the majority of all member, me too have repeatedly ask'd that registration be required...at least it makes it harder for people like k+priss, that don't have the balls to post using their names...it'd require them to find a proxy when they want to post crap or use their actual ip, anonymously...

then, historically you'd see that multiple ip's are being used by a specific user, which would be a tipoff to jack bauer that that person's using a proxy.....most, if not all honest users consistently have the same ip or at least, within the same range...only aol and a few dial up users have dynamic ip's anymore and they're alwys still, within the same range...

it's simple and requires no programming to say, you must register to post to post...it only requires a decision

All other crap aside, Kirin has not used an fake name for a lllooooooong time. In fact, I can't even remember the last one he used. It was when Rob busted him on it. I told him to use his own name, and stand behind what he thinks, plain and simple. NO ONE in my camp has used a fake name since then. And I have NEVER used one. That's for the record.

That said, how many in Esty's camp have used fake names? "Rubbery" "73*02". Odd too, that they all read just like Esty. It gets even more interesting when you see all the aliases Esty has used around the net. I forgot most of them, but Steve, Steve Rogan, and several others come to mind.
