Subject: Project 1600 oil painting

I just got a 1967 1600 that was my Dad's and sat for 15 years.
I put together a blog http://oldschoolbmw.blogspot.com

I have a lot of plans for this little car. I also have a 1972 2002 I am going to build that one as a old school ralley car.

Welcome to the club! that two tone paint job would look killer! Not sure about the frame scraping height tho... its all about driveability for me. I do like the orange rear bumper. makes the rear fender/bumper overlap transition look beefier

Hahaha, that photoshop looks SWEET!! Looks like you have a TRUCKLOAD of work ahead of you... get cracking, it will be awesome when you are done.

Where did you get the original picture of that white car you photoshopped? What wheels are they?

Cheers,

Todd

That photo is a Tti and I just made the 13 inch wheels bigger in photoshop. some of my old art tricks. I don't recall where i found the original photo I think it was on google images I still have the original untouched. As far as it sitting on the ground yes it is slammed in the image but that is just an Idea. I like cars low with stiff suspension.

I love it all except the rear bumper bar...

Top effort. I knew it was photoshopped, I looked at it a bit closer and noticed the reverse plate - I think I know what car it is now... the white Tii from Richard Stern's bmw2002.co.uk site?

It sort of looks like one of those models from German ebay after the chop! Should look great when finished... nice work!

Your art is great! Looks excellent!

I think that car was featured in PBMW or Bimmer magazine once. Nice looking car!

Subject: Oil Painting update

Today I started to use some white to blend in the high lights. the rear quarter pannel is starting to really have that reflective feeling to it. I started to tighten up some of the details and defining the chrome strip down the side. The reflections on the hood are starting to look good too. I still have a lot of work to do on this yet but it is very fun to see it coming together so nicely. This is my first time painting a car with oils. I did mostly water color in the past. you can check out the painting section of my web site to see some of my water color paintings. http://www.vincentstrader.com/paintings.htm

I like your style... chop a few leafs out of the springs, polish the wheels, clean the windows... leave the body as it is... GO THE RAT!

all of it drawings, paintings, cars, etc. The rag top two tone is just beautiful. It amazes how some people just got all the talent genes - not fair, not fair!
