Thread Topic: pig cheek zender fenders Threaded

I have a 74 2002 with the same flares on the car shown in the heading on this site. Problem is, the wheels are not consistent with the width of the flares. They are set too narrow to look like the above.

Solution? Different wheels? Spacers? or?

Can you post some pics of your car? And also of your wheel/flare space differences?

I think you have to go with 13X8 to get the right look.

Thanks for your interest. I will measure them tomorrow.

Looks right in the pictures. Serious wheels!

I think you need like 14x8s with some decent offset to get some nice dish... those ones on the white & green car are a bit small IMHO.

that increasing the offset and width of your rims/tires
is gonna have a pretty drastic effect on handling.

Those flares were originally designed for road racing cars-
things like slow- speed corners and ease of turning weren't
foremost in their minds back then...

fwiw.

"Harv" says this may negatively affect my handling. What's it like on the green and white car? Is it yours?

Sorry, it wasn't Harv who made to comment about handling, it was Toby. I am interesting in hearing about those liekly effects.

That car used to belong to my friend Jeff (AlfaGuy) and is now owned by Brent, (Bimmerboy?) It was a bit hard to park but that car handled fine back in the day. I have 13X8 for my car with like a 5mm offset.

So how do the present wheels drive and park on your car?

The car I am working on belongs to my daughter, and has been in the family for close to 20 years. She drives it as a weekender, but does not have the arm strength of a man. If it were too tough to steer or park, it might be a problem for her.

The flares on the green-striped car are the schnitzer style, right?
The Alpine flares (or pig cheeks) are the ones on the car above? I think that's correct....

Brent goes by 'vtbimmer' i think. He's on bimmerforums mostly. It took me a while to get used to the massive flares but i like them now :-)

What size tire does that require?

The tire size is getting harder and harder to find. I just checked to see if tire rack had any more of the 235/ 45/ 13 and they didn't. I think I'm going to be stuck using the 215/50/13 that Sumatumo and Yokohama use unless I can get some of those 235/60/13 Pirelli P6's that Chastle sells
