Hi guys, this is Goodfellas Project. Target to be on track in the beginning of may 2006. Earlier phases of the car can be seen on my web page http://personal.inet.fi/cool/grt

Here's links to my previous posts as a start of my project thread.

Ok, since last time I've spent quite much time fitting the fenders. They are no way near good but they will have to do. I made a mounting for alternator that is spinned by driveshaft. We'll see how that works. Then the whole body except roof was sand blasted and primed. I had that done in a local firm. Next we built a painting cabinet in the carage. Also quite much bondo work has been done although I'm not reaching for perfection. Last picture is yesterdays' situation. Floor on the outside, wheel arches, engine room and trunk were painted with industrial paint in aluminium colour. I'm still not sure if the inside will be yellow or aluminium... Outside will be yellow as before.

Couple more painting pics. Interior is now aluminum gray. Today we'll spray yellow and the body is ready. Still all the fenders, hood, etc to go.

Well yellow it is! The shade was supposed to be same as before but it doesn't quite look like it. Maybe it's just faded over the years.

I don't have room to take better shots as long as I have that painting booth in there, but you get the idea ;-P

Thanks for all comments! Pictures don't tell all - the car no way near show quality. There is many nicer cars on this board. I'm just doing as good work as I can without stucking on one place for too long.

But really Mitch you don't have to be jellous about my carage! It's a crappy tight place and I pay way too much for it. Temperature is 8 deg C right now, not so ideal for painting - or actually anything.

But thanks guys! I'll keep you posted as soon as I get something done again.

Paint job is almost done. Hood and front spoiler will be painted later. So now I've started putting it back together - this is the fun part of the project when you see something finished every day.

Rear axle, rear PC windows, 1-wiper system from Fiat Uno, fenders, dash,...
It's starting to look quite much like my vision was but I'm really waiting to see it on the ground with wheels and driving height set.

I got the wheels blasted and painted and suspension is now put together so you start to see what the car will really look like. It's very much like my vision was when I started this. Likely I will paint the wheel spokes/centers black.

Tires are 225/45/17 Michelin Pilot Sport 2, old ones just for testing. Most likely that's what will be used but if I end up with some other brand 215/45/17 may be an option (PSII not available in that size).

Also brakes are now installed, heated windscreen, dash etc.. Next electrical wiring.

What I'm worried about is that I'm still missing clutch and dry sump system. Both ordered from UK. Sump 3 months ago and clutch over a month now...
There's quite much work to fit those.

Also a little drawback with mainshaft. I made a one piece shaft and took it to be balanced. Thay said it can take max. 6000 rpm's before breaking, which would mean only about 150km/h. Larger diameter tube has to be changed...$$€€

Hey Tommy, I was wondering what motor you planned on running in it, the front end looks like a pretty serious unit! What class will the car run in?

Motor will be same 2 liter m10 as before. It's documented on my web page. I will add dry sump and double DCOE's will replace the Lynx + 1 carb setup.

I will change class to Roadsport B (earlier C). Here's little information about the classes in english

Here's some of the competitors

Subject: Received some goodies

Finally got some long waited parts! 3 stage dry sump pump and tank from Pace Products UK. Alcon race clutch dia 7,25" =184mm. The disk is about 2,5mm thick, quite light I'd say. Should be a bit easier for the synchros.

Cost: "Hell of a lot more than too much!"

Since last time I have made about half of wiring, fitted oil tank, started making oil pan, almost fitted the pump and started working with flywheel. So nothing finished but alot going on.

Slow progress. That crazy expensive clutch slave cylinder is installed. Only bought it because it was the easy way. Rear end is now put together. Trunk floor is made of kevlar honeycomb sheet that's used as aeroplane floor. Piece of that size weighs about same as a postcard :-) Air can now flow quite freely from under the car as the rear panel is cut. Still some work to do with wiring. Then oil system, exhaust, cooling, etc.

Well, it didn't start that well. I was only able to run 2,5 laps. I had drained battery too much and we thought alternator was bad. Actually it wasn't but that took the time. There was other problems as well but now they should be fixed for next Wednesday. I sure wish to get some more laps because it comes a bit expensive to run two laps for 50 euro track fee + 100km travel.
