looks good ian, what are you doing on the inside to reinforce the tranny tunnel for those tranny mounts if anything? im was thinking large fender washers but perhaps something beefier is needed. any comments??
im not thrilled with the thin gauge metal my tranny brackets are made of. yours are twice as thick _________________

I believe that he welded large washers to the tranny tunnel. Will have to check it when it comes down from the lift.

My mechanic dabbles in fabrication work as well. It was his idea to build the stiffer brace. If you look at it, the horizontal piece actually has a slant to it. This was done to allow him to add a second mount on the left side beneath brace and tied to the tranny via a bolted on bracket. I'll try to get a pick of that as well when I return to the shop. _________________ 74 2002tii - m20 powered - Under re-construction

Interesting to read that. I went last year and had a nice time talking with Jonathan (jgmgti), John (John_in_VA) and others while I was there. I took lots of pictures of Juanita and others to use as reference for when I put mine back together.
Yes, mine might fit in well once it is completed. However, my intent is to use this as a fun driver/ occasional show car. While the DM is a nice date to shoot for completion of the car, I am really looking forward to getting out and going on one of the fun runs with the local group.
Thanks for the encouragement and for the inspiration. _________________ 74 2002tii - m20 powered - Under re-construction

Are you routing brake lines in a new direction, or do you have pre-bent?
I only ask because it looks like its going to be a tight fit to work around with the engine already in place!
By the way, what are those bars zip-tied to the radiator? _________________

No pre-bent lines.....new lines will be bent and run at the shop. If I had done everything, I would have installed them before the engine went in. Oh well, it's not my knuckles.

Those zip ties go to the electric fan that is sitting on the front of the radiator. Not sure if I like this method of attachment.
Honestly, I really just want to get this thing fired....figure that I can adjust for aesthetics once it returns home. _________________ 74 2002tii - m20 powered - Under re-construction

Thanks for the kudos guys.
Evan -
Yes, I had to have the Y-pipe fabricated by the exhaust shop. I believe that it is 2.25in pipe that flares to 2.5in before heading into the center muffler. I decided to follow the suggestions of others on the board (canadamatt, instructorbill) when putting the system together and never really considered a dual pipe setup.....not sure if you could fit something like that in the available space.
Car is running and mechanical work is completed. Heads to the booth next week.
I'll try to take a video of it running next week and post it up. _________________ 74 2002tii - m20 powered - Under re-construction

Oh...it will get out. Don't you worry.

Why not.....not like I haven't been bleeding money on this anyway.
