Please make logging in to post manditory. I know some don't like it, etc. I am sure you have heard/seen both sides of this debate.

- People can't make fake claims as a "guest" like: "Alpina Barn find"
- SPAM... What if a bot locks onto the site and makes "guest" posts?
- Most of the people on the internet use IE or Firefox, or a browser that uses Cookies
- could 'ban' users (should the need arise) as opposed to an IP block. Where the IP block ban would potientally ban other legit users.

Just my few cents on the issue. Thanks for the site!

Vroomer,
thanks for the input. All openions are appreciated.

one of the manyu reasonf for the curent format is to have the abbility to prevent annonymous posts. At this point we have not been hit with spam too hard. We had a few, but nothing significant. And i would usually recomend taking information on the internet with a grain of salt, especially annonymous.

we will keep the guest posting for now, but myight change in the future.

i like no-reg posting just because it takes the hassle out of the occasional visitor's visit... BUT if youre going to post as an unregistered user, at least pick a name other than "Guest"!!!! just a lil peeve of mine!! :)

I think a lot of Guest posts are folk who forget they're not logged in. If you are not looking it isn't always obvious if you are logged in or not. Well its not super obvious anyway

Yeah I've been thinking that this and a few other "common mistakes" can be avoided through some simple design tweaks (such as removing the big "New Topic" button from the top of the threads and just leaving it on the topic listing, thus forcing people to use the "reply" buttons).... I was telling steve (and I think you) that I should have some time over the next couple weeks while I'm on "vacation" to work on some of these things that have been bugging people. I'll keep you posted.
