I guess due to the lack of replies, the answer is no. In the US it appears the upgrade is to make the headlights H4 instead of the sealed beam unit offered here. When I lived in the UK and drove all over Europe for my work, I used to fit 100w bulbs (bought very cheaply in Holland) and they were fine. One answer is having real good reflectors. The design of the headlight is prone to letting in dirt etc which promotes corrosion rather quickly, even if the rear covers/bowls are fitted.
My "sleeping" project willl have twin 5" headlamps which must be an improvement for lighting even if the look is not to everyone's taste.
