If he was a contributing member of the board then I would agree, but 2 things ring true.


1. you get what you put in. His/her only contribution is to drive us to the same crap site over and over again. Other then that GMAN provides nothing.

2. OT does not mean crap. This is an enthusiasts board. There are many other sites where you can get this. I am on a VW board, no foul language/ no porn no nothing guess what lots of technical, fun and informative posts.

My enitial thought was to email the user and find out the true intentions, but after looking at what email address this person is using i have decided not to do that and ban the account as spam account. The good thing is that all posts were done fromthe same IP.

Eddit: The banning of the user didn't really have anythign to do with the content of the site that the links were pointing to. After 17 identical messages, i considered it to be SPAM.

I think the question of porn or not is irrelevant. The sites main advertising revenue is generated from porn sites. It is deffinately not a work safe site.

The bigger issue and my main concern was the fact that our site the we built (well actually rob and steve built) was being used in this way. As a poster above said you get what you put in.

We have 780 registered users. How cool is that? I think that is inncredible!

although you can't look at any of his links without being surrounded by multiple invitations to all sorts of Pornographic sites, which isn't exactly what we would call Family or work safe. The main point being that these invitations are being posted by someone who is NOT part of our 02 community. I have no problem seeing Jonny's white ass occasionally, he usually warns us. I have no problem seeing heated Pro or Anti Bush posts from members of this community. I wouldn't even feel it necessary to censor or ban a FAQ member from sharing his favorite website (porn or not) I do have a problem with someone with absolutely no interest in 02s using this community to promote their own interests.
Back to the original question, which was not "is Porn good or not?". I believe the question was, "Is Gman a spammer? The only thing "pathetic" was defending "GarbageMan's" right to continue to spam us..
This is a great community, filled with independent, caring, intelligent, unselfish individuals. I get a little defensive when someone is obviousy trying to take advantage of us. I thank all those who work tirelessly to maintain the boards uniqueness..

i have banned in the past and will always ban people who subject the site i run to spam. i really do not care what you are spaming: porn, books, cooking utensils, or bibles. Spam is spam and will not be tolerated. After looking at the profile for the user in question and the users lack of responses to any of this type of discussion it was obvious that this was a fake user.

As for the subject of the Off-topic, it is not an everything goes forum, it is more of a members discussion of their life issues, problems and achievements. More of a "what do you do outside of the garage". This was never designed to be a place for SPAM. This is still a site designated to 2002. There are other places for other things.

Maybe you need to get out more and interact with people face to face. Me thinks that you have been sitting in front of a screen for too long. This is a community of like minded people. Sometimes we get along sometimes we don't. But we are all here for the same purpose.

This is NOT an online community of people who want to spew their crap and then hide behind some free speach BS argument. We are a community of auto enthusiasts first and foremost.

No offense but your view that anything should go and it is up to people to excercise responsible clicking is pure bull shit. Anything does not go - and I have no interest in belonging to a community of internet geeks, where we pass bomb making instructions, the latest Paris hilton vid and everyday are faced with a plethora of how old are? What is your job? BS polls by people who don't have anything or anyone to interact with. So please if you feel the need to make new friends or feel honry or what every go to one of the many "naughty" sites that are so much fun (your words not mine).

I love these boxy cars and even more so love hanging out with other like minded people over coffee on one of our numerous drives to the moutains or helping others wrench on their cars this is what the comunity is about. The website is only meant to be a tool to easier facilitate these types of meetings and exchanges of ideas.

That being said, this website has over 780 registered users and I am willing to guess another 100 guests, that blows my mind seriously. What a fantastic resource - lets not spoil that by letting some over-zealous spammers dilute the real enthusiasm of the site.

Rock on Steve, you have more patience then me. Thanks again for putting togther the ultimate resource for 02 owners.
