Subject: Looks like a late 70's grey market or personal import...

It's definitely a strip and restore or patch and drive proposal. C.D. would freak out. Rust is growing or starting in all the typical e21 locations. Engine looks like it has had the laying on of hands from many previous owners. What's the deal with the top not having a back window? However, high marks for the 316/318 single headlights and FOHA airdam - lately I've been attracted to the e21s - I think they were underappreciated during there time. Probably upgraded to 2 liter with the Weber. Might make an interesting basis for an M20B25 or M30 converstion if you know how to weld and wrench. I say drive up there and drop 750-900 Cash in his face and no more. Maybe he'll give you a discount if you also pick up the toy dog and the I Love Lucy toy cars. If you want a no-resto BMW cabrio, you can find clean e30 318iC cabrios all day for $4 grand.

Verdict: The write-up is bullshit and tells you nothing other than that the seller is indecisive. Bring cash, a trailer, and a second body to provide brow-beating/muscle leverage. Next, take your sawz-all the pick and pull and harvest some shock towers and a trunk floor. Then fire up the MIG and make like bacon and eggs on Sunday morning. Oh, and don't forget that turbo'd M20 conversion...

Subject: I, too have been fascinated with the E21 as well...

Been browsing on Bimmerforums lately and drooling at some examples of nice E21s over there. One has a M42 motor. Hmm *wheels turning* Methinks I gotta con the wife into a E21 for my next project.
