Subject: moving to Atlanta + 02 content (sort of...)

Tomorrow is my last day at work in Toronto, then I'm taking a position with my company in Atlanta! Moving down sometime in January I hope. Norcross actually, for those of you in the area. If anybody has any county/city suggestions I'd be pleased to see your feedback. Thus far we're looking at Alpharetta or perhaps Lawrenceville.
Will be looking to purchase an 02 daily driver in the near future, I hope...perhaps one that HASN'T had to live through northern/eastern winters of rust inducing salt!! Brutal first storm of the season today, I sure won't miss the cold, although I enjoy driving in the snow when there is nobody else on the road.

So anyway, today was my last team meeting with my local management group and the guys bought me an 02 model as a going away gift. Pretty cool of them really. Its the AutoArt Millenium 2002L. I guess it helped that my manager's first car was an 02 and he has remained a car/bike fanatic every since.

I guess I'll finally have a CCA chapter!! Hello Peachtree!

The Prez of the Peachtree Chapter is currently Bruce Hertowski (sp?), owner of the sweetest E21 Baur I've seen. He posts here once in a while.

As opposed to many BMW CCA chapters (including mine), there is quite a bit of older BMW participation in their events. I frequently travel to Atlanta on business trips and have been lucky to attend several of their events.

There is a strong possibility I will be transferred to the ATL area in a year or two, either to Norcross or to Ellenwood in the southwest, so we might get to meet up there.

Welcome to Atlanta! It'll be quite a change from Toronto, no doubt, but it has a great deal to offer.

I live near Alpharetta, and I recently purchased my daily driven '74 02 from Harrison Motorsports in Roswell. Dave is good people, and may be able to help you in your quest to find an '02.

There's some great driving country north of Atlanta, where foothills give way to the Appalachian mountains. Great mountain views, curvy roads, and back-country barbeque. Definitely one of the perks of living in the area.

Good luck finding your Bimmer!

I go to Georgia Tech and live in Fulton County on the north side of town, around Collier Road. Welcome to Atlanta.

I lived in Atl for many years. A couple of things to be aware of. Traffic sucks, so even if another area of town is more attractive to you, you have to consider the commute. If Norcross is your work location, you might want to look for a house in Gwinnet county (which, I believe is where Norcross is located) rather than Fulton county (Alpharetta). The taxes are dramatically different. Atlanta is a good place to live. Beautiful women, generally good weather, lots of nice older BMW's, good mechanics, and relatively low cost of living. If it had an ocean, it would be a real city!
