Subject: '02 in new BMW commercial/ 22 minute '02 video download

Just a few minutes ago the girlfriend yells to me 'Hey, your car is on TV!". Apparently BMW's new 3-series ad features a 2002 at the beginning, stating "In 1968 BMW introduced" blah blah something or other. Didn't get to see it myself unfortunately. :(

In my effort to find the ad online, I stumbled upon this 22 minute 281mb video (dial-up users beware) entitled 'Evolution of an Icon'. It focuses a great deal on the 2002, and features commentary by David E. Davis Jr. and numerous others. Lots of great action shots and information about the history of our little cars. I believe it may have been shown on the Discovery Channel at one time.

In addition, the BMW website has a neat feature under 'Heritage' that chronicles the changes in the 3-series line over the years. When you mouse over the choices the lights and turn-signals on the '02 illuminate. I'm such a sucker for goofy stuff like that :)

I was able to download a 02 screen saver at work from BMW's website. Can't remember the link off the top of my head though. Anyone else seen it?

Thanks for the link! This video was "linked" from an ad for the new 3 series that popped up on my DirecTV/TiVo unit a while back (on the main screen where those "special features" appear). If I recall correctly, it was one of those "press thumbs up to learn more" kinds of things while I was watching the ad. But before I could re-watch the full length thing on my TiVo, one of my housemates deleted it! I did a quick search for it, but couldn't find it at the time. In any case, I remember it being pretty cool and 02-centric for the first 10 minutes (then into how great the new 3 series is for the second half). Worth a watch.

It is actually a very good video, I burned it to CD a few weeks back and plan on looking at it at the next 02 get together. I beleive the red tii is Bo Blacks?

It is funny that the blue 2002 at the begining has the front bumper totally crooked and also that the silver tii during david e davis' commentary definately has had a nose or fenders as the upper seam is visible.

Great movie especially love the racing footage, wish they would have had more on the e30 as it is a total of 20 seconds long.

This one here is from onboard my 02 at a hillclimb here in newcastle, australia.

car has fat swaybars, bilsteins, noltec camber plates, loud exhuast, 288 reground cam, RaceBrakes brand pads, 4.10:1 E21 LSD, cobra seat, sparco rollcage, 45DCOE webers and no carpet or deadening. Have a new motor in progress, and am looking for a CR 5sd and then I will prolly be happy with it :)
