Okay well after many many hours, the newest modification has been completed on the orange beast! Now that it's complete and running I can let the cat out of the bag. I now have a '72 Inka Orange M20 car with a tubular manifold bolted up and spinning a huge 57mm T04e turbo. Anyone ever seen this completed? I know Bob in OKC has been working at that motor in his E30 but has it been swapped in yet? Bob? Well, off to bed now, 14hrs of work later today but it fires up and it fires up with ferocity!

Bob is lapping Hallet today in his E30, with the M20. Pretty nice engine. Are you using MS also?

Yup, Megasquirt is awesome. So you're saying his M20 Turbo is still in his E30 and his M20 is still N/A in his 2002? I have been busting myself many hours a day trying to get it done to call it the first, anyone heard otherwise?

I put the motor I built for my 2002 in my e30 last year so I could get some seat time. I have since built another for my 2002 but I still have a few things to finish before it goes in. So even though I technically had the m20 AND turbo in my 2002, I never had it running so you beat me... :-(

As long as your not running silly amounts of boost, it's not hard to drive in my e30. I usually run a .5 bar spring for track and auto-x and the power is extremely linear.

7-8psi is pretty mild, but curtis seemed to imply hes gonna push a lot of boost with his big T04E... (I personally like the idea of a "low" overall boost level with early spoolup (via a relatively smallish turbo..)) anyways, not only that, but the e30 outweighs the 02 by a good 800lbs or so! (as im sure you know) :) when you gonna put it in the 02?

All i can do is sit here and wallow in a puddle of my own drool!!! :)

A t40e isn't really that big. It will support well over 300HP but I wouldn't call it big. I am at full boost by 3500 with my t40e, regardless of how much boost I am running. As far as weight goes, my e30 was 2742 the last time I had it on scales. I have removed all the insulation in the trunk and went to a light weight battery since so I know I am well below 2700 now. My target for the 2002 is 2400lbs, which is realistic considering I have a full cage, m20, turbo, etc... And it keeps me legal in SM for auto-x since 2400lbs is the minimum weight for SM. My alum flywheel just showed up today so I can finish assembly and get that sucker dropped in! I'm hot on Curtis' trail now! :-)

Can you share any info on your turbo install with me? I have a 1989 325is. I bought the manifold from a turbo desiel e30 and have all new piping and intercooler. 19lb injectors and bavarian auto sport adj fuel pressure regulator. I also bought a new blow off valve and oil line kit. I think i bought a wastegate and a turbo psi adjuster that is manual. I have not started yet because I am still here in Fallujah, Iraq with the Marines but from jacksonville florida. Thanks. Mr Edgar bufordHi there in Orlando. I was wondering if you can share any info on your

Good to see ya back. Try to come to the cars and coffee on June 28th at Heathrow. The first one had like 80 cars, very cool. We can get Ross, Jim, and Myself with our 2002's and maybe even a few more we could have 6 or 7 there. I remember at the Audi rally last year that car of yours was sounding mean then. Must be beastly now.

I have a new engine as well. (not turbo :( )

Hey Mike, the cars still not running right, but I'll be trying to work on it this Saturday to figure it out. I bought an '03 M3 and sold my E30 so its my new toy and has been getting little mods to hold me over until I figure out my '02. The '02 did get new seats though last week, yay!

Yup, I still know the girls and need to get them on my new car for some pics. Hopefully have the '02 back and running soon to try for the 400hp barrier, then to drop weight to get to 2000lbs and we'll be plenty fast!

Nice ride Curtis.

Did you use a turbo kit or just pieced all together? I guess the most important piece is the manifold to make sure it fits. Which manifold did you use? Where did you relocate the coolant reservoir? Did you disconnect the mass air flow, I don't see it in the picture.

Wow, old thread revived, and I just got it running again with a new bigger better turbo. It now runs a Precision Turbo SC61 and is FAST, it gets away from my E46 M3 already not tuned in perfect.

My coolant bottle is in the front right behind the headlight and the manifold was custom, now a 524td manifold but that wont last long, it seems to be limiting me.

Let me know if I may be of any further help!

-Curtis
