I have a linksys 54g and also an Apple AirPort extreme. I actually find the linksys' range slightly better, but obviously there are lots of factors. You can pick up some more beefy antennae for the Linksys pretty easily, but I can't vouch for the effectiveness.

FWIW, I used to have a Linksys 11b router and the range was better than either of my two g routers. Go figure.

I have an Airport Extreme and I find the range is excellent. Neighbors kid across the street says he has no problem using our signal. I have turned down the signal but then I have troubles using the iBook in the garage and also streaming music to the living room where we have an airport express hooked to the Stereo with an IR cable.

I have a Linksys Gband VOIP adapter which serves as both my VOIP adapter for my Vonage internet phone and a wireless router. Range is excellent works throughout my house and even 40 FT away in my detached garage.

Al, you need to ask him what brand it is.

I have the linksys wrt54g as well....Had it over a year now...never got it to work more than 5 minutes....the housing is now cracked from an emotional outburst I had trying to configure it......What a POS
