I installed the engine from the bottom. I order for it to fit, I had to remove the header, plenum and steering box.

Congrats, your gonna love it. I loved driving Andy S's car. It made me want an S14 for mine. I'm gonna make do with a big M10 for the mean time.

Phil, looks great. Can't wait until I put mine in. Is it that much easier to install in from the bottom up? I have access to a lift so I might go that route.

LOOKS GREAT PHIL. im going to try this route also. was your engine hoist able to lift the subframe high enough or did you have to drop the shell?
also, what fan did you choose? 13"?

I would have to say it was pretty easy. I only needed a little help from my wife with the actual pumping of the hydraulic ram on the engine hoist while I guided the engine/tranny into place. In my case it made sense, since I had the suspension out anyway. The part I liked about going this route is you can install the engine with the tranny mated together without much fuss and you have less chance or skinning up the paint in the engine bay.

nice magnecors... push them down hard! and I think they still tend to pop up. Mine seem to.

Just put a 4.10 50% lsd in mine. Now I need to get back and actually drive it!

Cheers,

Ray

Blunt, I made an engine cradle out of 4x4 pieces of wood and attach swivel wheels so I could roll the engine under the car. With my set-up, I had to raise the car 31 inches for clearance.

I had to remove the header; plenum and steering box to have the clearance needed to raise the engine/ tranny and sub frame into place.

My hoist did raise my engine and sub frame high enough without lowering the car. If you build a cradle make sure your hoist’s legs will straddle it.

I will be using the electric fan I was running prior to doing the swap. It's a 12in 10-blade fan.
