it won't take a new username because the data base sees my e-mail address as already associated with the username I forgot.

Frustrating

It's reasonably quick on individual posts, but opening each forum takes 4 or 5 seconds for me.

I should add some 02 colors to the lists of things that BBCode color= will match on :)

Sounds like we need to optimize the DB a bit, probably also cut down on the number of threads on a page by a bit as well. That should speed things up. Stay tuned.

Incidentally, I wasn't expecting this level of load -- maybe everyone's just anxious to check out the new site... makes me glad I didn't go with some of the other site software options I was considering that would definitely not have scaled.

Subject: So now in threaded view, the newest REPLY bumps a TOPIC up?

Hate to start off with a whine-ee post, but I was really hoping the order of the topics in threaded view could be selected with newest TOPIC at the top (like the "old" forum).

My fear is that when each new REPLY bumps its TOPIC to the top, you can create those 'threads that will not die' which gets tiresome.
I don't want to have to page down thru a bunch of old long threads to see new topics, just because the older threads got a bump up.

Can we have an option for "fixed" view with newest TOPICS remaining at the top ?? Please?
Sorry for the big bold red font, had to experiment a little with the new tricks

john

Subject: It is definitely possible to modify the behavior...

...in fact there's a thread on it already in the feedback board :)

http://bmw2002faq.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,57/page,viewtopic/topic_view,threads/p,264163/t,264121/

My proposal is to try it like this for a few days and then put it to a vote. I like the idea of making it an option, though I'm not sure how much work it will be to make it selectable.

Sound okay?

What I like is that most people are honoring a select few of us by typing all of their messages in SCHWARTZ!! ;)

Slow opening the forum here (5 sec or more), threads seem good once I'm inside.

Nice job!!

I know this belongs in the feedback area, but while we're on the subject..

Can the drop-down menu to select newest/oldest be used to create "trees" that have newest replys at the top under a topic?
That, together with NO bumping will best re-create the ease of use the old forum gave (at least for myself.)

Hey peteinjp, I'm in Nagoya right now, we arrived last night on business.
Not that I know Nagoya areas real well, but where are you?
I'm downtown, near Sakae.
