If it's not one thing it's another...gotta love these cars. Anyway...I went started my my car and the relays under the dash started clicking on and off. My Temp gauge would peg to the top whenever they were clicking and my headlights would go dim(or maybe it was bright). When I got home and started looking around I couldn't see anything amiss. My number 12 fuse blew which caused my car to die, I replaced it but now my alternator light is on constantly. Bad voltage regulator?? Thanks in advance...steve

alternator to block ground wire (heavy brown wire that runs from the alternator frame to the block). Don't just look at the grounds; make sure they're clean and that there's no corrosion/fatigue where wire and terminal meet. That joint is often hidden by an insulator sleeve.
If that's not the problem, delve into fuses (cleanliness) and then alternator/regulator.
Happy troubleshooting

alternator off earlier in the day to remove some of the emissions stuff(the metal muffler looking thing that runs under the intake manifold) and didn't loosen the ground wire. I think flopping the alternator around without removing it may have broken the wire inside, I will check it out after I drink my coffee. Thanks..steve
