so the time is nearing ever so quickly ( sarcasm) that my car will finally
go to paint and body work shop. The thing is im still unsure what color
to go with. the car is atlantic so the plan was go atlantic and mix in
some blue pearl to get that shine, but i have been thinking and
thinking and the best color bmw has ever produced has got to be
Topaz Blue metallic as seen on E46 3 series( my dad had a 2000 328ci
in topaz blue and damn did that car look good) and the E39 5er. So
purist aside do you think an 02 would look good in Topaz?

and pay attention to the little details you could paint it diarreah babyshit brown and it will look good. if you like that color thats what id paint it. the beauty is in the details, not the color

it is the one you speak of, could be. I see it now and then and my thoughts are always, "Wow what an amazing blue!" Have a hard time visualizing what it would look like on a 002, I say pick a color that you like best.

...then how about this one? Lapis Blau, e21 color I believe. This pic is from a Jaymic car... I was on the fence with this one for quite a while...

Since you asked..I personally think Topaz is a bit too 'new' looking, but hey, in the end, paint it whatever floats your boat!

We went with Artiksblau? Seemed to be a more modern Atlantic. Atlantic was the color of our first 02.

it is a pain to keep clean. The second you clean it it is dirty...unless you are a clean freak like myself..stay away from black. Silver would make the best choice...looks great all the time even when dirty.

shows dirt the best, shows swirl marks more than any other color, yes
when black is clean it looks good and even though i work at a place that i
can wash my car during my break i just dont have the time to put into
washing it everyday here in the great pnw,

And will until the day I die. It's my favorite. I've owned my
royal blue E28 535is for over ten years now, and it still looks
great. It was a late '80's bmw color.

Subject: Atlantik Blue

I like Atlantik blue, It really shows off the chrome. Plus my first 2002 was
Atlantik, and my next 2002 will be if I can help it. Whenever I see a
modern color on a 2002, it just doesn't look right to me. but I'm sure it's
just familiarity. That being said, Laguna Seca blue might look good, since
it is not metallic.
Nice to be in that position of choice, enjoy,
Mark
