Paul Bracq is 75: Bon anniversaire, Monsieur Carossier!

He is one of the leading automotive designers and artists, he described himself as "Carossier": Paul Bracq.
On 13 December 2008, he was 75 years old.

Paul was responsible for Daimler Bracq as a designer, inter alia, the pagoda roof of the 230 SL, Series W
108/109, and especially the Mercedes-Benz 600 (W 100).

He designed at BMW next to the 3s, 5s, and 6-series BMW Turbo, a revolutionary concept car with
Wing doors.

Born in 1933 in Bordeaux, graduated Bracq first Holzbauer and then the body shop school
and then worked at Charbonneaux Philippe, who in his one-man operation with special bodywork
such as the coupe Pegaso deal.
After military service he began 1957 at Mercedes-Benz in Sindelfingen - its task: "new vehicles
design and graphically depict this. " Bracq, the characters pencils without his is rare, manufactures
Masses of drawings, which started even in the prospectuses to be published.

His designs have a timeless elegance, as the W 108 and the 600, but also the 230 SL, whose
Bracq pagoda roof on the drawing board emerged. Bracq himself says today, the concave roof while doing the

Paul Bracq now lives with his wife Alice back in his home city of Bordeaux. Bracqs
Artworks are in museums throughout the world. And he is still regarded as a juror in the main
Automobile active competitions, including the "Concours d'Elegance in Pebble Beach, California.
