Subject: how many of you actually torque stub axle nuts?

i gotta be honest i just run em on with the impact. i dont have anything to register the 300lbs needed. i set the impact on the middle of 3 settings and let er rip. ive never had a problem but i stripped one nut recently. what are you guys doing??? _________________

Attached is how Boeing figures you to perform torques, especially with higher than normal limits using some math and torque adapters.

Yup, I use a torque wrench, and an extender and calc it. Tried by gut feel one time, and it was tight, but obviously wasn't tight enough, and it got loose and stripped.
Never did it the other way, and overtightened it. But gotta give the BMW engineers credit to figure how tight exactly to make that big F'n nut.

if your nut is fuched, and the threads of the
stub axle compromised, and the splines
were runing loose, and your splines on both the
stub axle and hub are worn - you need all new
parts and start over again - or just redo it after
a few 100 or 1000 mileswith your method.
