I went and showed my wife the 1974 canary 2002 tii I mentioned here yesterday and she loved it. It seems really clean. I found out today that it hasn't been registered or really driven since 1992. Its been sitting at the shop in a corner occasionally started and driven around. The mechanic (who I know and trust) has said he will make sure it is up to his standards before he ever lets it leave the shop. Apparently it used the be the owner of the shops sweet little machine, until he unfortunately passed away a few years back. So...his widow has finally come to grips with letting it go. I think it seems sharp, but just want to make sure I'm not being naive. The interior/exterior are cosmetically near perfect. I looked the car over and found no rust or cracks on the dash. It has a rebuilt transmission and engine with around 10,000 miles (not to sure about total miles, but somewhere hovering around the 100,000 mile mark) on them. However, it has been a while since its seen considerable time on the road. I have the engine number, if that is helpful, but being a bit of a space cadet I forgot to write the vin down. I'm 30 and already losing my mind. Yikes! I'll get it on Monday. Give me your feedback, as well as what you think would be a reasonable offer for the vehicle. Given the situation, If I do end up buying the vehicle I want to make sure I pay a fair price. But at the same time, I don't want to get screwed either. I'm still looking forward to joining the crew whether its this 02 or somebody elses. Thanks for the help.
