HE WAS WARNED NOT TO USE THEM BUT WANTED SO MUCH TO BELIEVE
WHAT HE WAS READING THAT WELL , IT MUST BE TRUE .

CBS POSTED PDF FILES OF THE DOCUMENTS ON THEIR WEBSITE AFTER
DAN HAD AIRED THE STORY .

THE ORIGINALS DID APPEAR TO BE AUTHENTIC DOWN TO THE DATES , KIND OF PAPER WITH YELLOWED EDGES , STAPLES AND SO ON .

HOWEVER , THEY WERE FOUND LATER TO HAVE THE EXACT FONT & SPACING THAT CAN BE PRODUCED ON ANY COMPUTER USING MICROSOFT WORD ! THEY WERE ABSOLUTE FABRICATIONS .

WHEN THIS BLEW UP IN DAN's FACE HE PLAYED THE BLAME GAME AND
GOT SOMEONE ELSE ON HIS STAFF FIRED BUT THAT DIDN'T SALVAGE HIS CREDIBILITY OR HELP HIM KEEP HIS MOST HONEST NEWSMAN STATUS .

A SAD END TO A LONG CARRER BUT HE BROUGHT IT UPON HIMSELF &
IT LEAVES ME WITH LINGERING THOUGHTS ABOUT WHAT OTHER

network news, or any commercial entity that relies on advertising revenue is going to pander to one of two interests:

lowest common denominator - mass market appeal
niche marketing - garner a larger share of a targeted market

so what sells?
sex (duh), bad news (much more market appeal than good news), charismatic people over boring technocrats, people with hollywood looks over plain folks.

FOX News has staked a claim on the Right (or so I've been told, since i don't watch any TV news anymore).
Network News has staked a claim on the Left.

TV news lost credibility with me when they started showing these darn "human interest" segments and injected too much editorializing into them. It became less news and more info-tainment.

at least with newspapers i have more control over what i can skim over.

my local congressman is norm dicks. he's a democrat and not a bad guy. but all he could do in the 20 minutes he talked at my rotary meeting this morning is list a variety of funding $ he brought to the state, and then went on to say spending is a real issue in washington dc. WTF?

that's right. problem is, the majority of the population believes what they hear on TV. be it your local nightly news channel, your cable "news" channels, your city newspapers. most of the time this stuff is presented to people as fact. who wants to believe that what they are hearing and what they are believing lies? it is constantly drilled into people's heads that you have two choices. the avenues for people to learn about other choices is stunted, it is blocked from their view. most people are uninformed and don't have the time, don't have the willpower, don't understand that there are other parties or even other candidates in their party that are radically different. these other choices are not given equal time and exposure, they are not taken seriously and automatically dismissed as having no chance.
