this is a MUST-DO for anyone with original seals!! Mine were TOAST and clearly leaking water *and* exhaust into the car (my car doubles as bug sprayer). I had to scrape a good deal of the toasted gaskets off the taillight lenses and did a little bit of rust removal and ghetto painting with rattle can "rusty metal" primer and appliance epoxy paint around the taillight holes. I am part-way through getting the rest of the trunk ready for a few coats of POR-15. Poorpooor rusty trunk floor! im also doing the outside of the gas tank with POR....

i have to say that this makes a HUGEHUGEHUGE difference in toxic exhaust smell reaching into car. right now i have my gas tank just sitting in there loose because i was working on the POR project, and figured that was a good portion of the exhaust smell source but with the new taillight seals the exhaust smell is basically GONE.. amazing difference!!

(THANKS BLUNTIE :))

;)

i should mention that I had already changed the trunk seal, and was surprised to find that if anything the exhaust smell had gotten worse, chalked it up to the loose-fitting gastank at the time. those taillight seals are critical! not to mention keeping the spare tire well from rusting out....
