...on Duboce St. in San Francisco.

Got my attention, even in dark grey metallic.

It's a pretty little thing.

I saw one in my neighborhood for the first time. The LED headlights were neat to see, and that engine sounded pretty badass.

i saw one in germany last year.
they are way cool in person.
as good as the photos make the car look, it's better looking in real life.

I got a hot-lap ride in one at Sears Point last November.
Only one other car (a formula car) on the track and a pro driver. It was a flippin race car. He got it a little light (sideways) in turn 2.
All that time teaching at car control clinics paid off for me. I don't even breathe hard at stuff like that. Hell, with the pro driver at the wheel I could've taken a nap at 130mph.

Nah.
He was some furrin' guy with a furrin' sounding name.

Actually his name was Christian something. Drives pro rally and had placed second in some big-deal national drifing competition.

I think he was trying to do a show-off lap. When he got it a bit sideways, I just commented, "a little light there, eh?"

Jack isn't a pro-driver or anything, but I just remember him bragging about running an R8 at Sears Point last year, so figure he was in the same bunch of people as you. I think he writes for Jalopnik and other stuff.

I was the passenger in the R8.
It was at the Audi drive experience. They gave you an hour or so in various cars playing with the ABS, driving around cones and such. Once they were sure you weren't a complete yahoo, they had you strap on a helmet and then play follow the leader with the instructor on the track in some S5's. They had walkie talkies in the student cars. As the instructor drove around he would call out, "car 3 move in closer, car 5 watch your line you are wide...". THAT skill really impressed me.
If I tried to drive (instruct) the 5 cars behind me, I'd put my car into the wall in the process.

After the track time, the instructor told me to go get in the R8. Then we did a couple of laps at speed. Sounded great!
