Subject: Megasquirt with Innovate LC-1 Question

Hey, I just got an LC-1 and have it all wired in. all is well, however when I start the 02, it seems the LC-1 shuts off or displays a static af ratio. Probably a wiring issue. So question is, where did you guys wire power for your LC-1?

I'm thinking 12v direct to battery through a relay switched via ignition is best?

Yes, MS and LC-1 are using the same ground lug.

I have mine wired to a switched 12v source. No relay needed.

I have mine wired to that "green wire" under the hood, which is a switched 12v source. What source did you use?

I'll have to look when I get home. Have you calibrated the sensor yet?

Yeah, its calibrated. I am thinking that the starting current might be freaking my LC-1 out a little bit. My external gauge and megasquirt do concur on the AF ratio when the car is not running. Weirdness.

I have mine wired to a 12v switched source, I think from an empty terminal on fuse number 10. I presume you are giving the LC1 sufficient time to warm up? Mine generally doesn't give an accurate reading for 20 or 30 seconds or so. Do you have the LED light hooked up? If so, the way it flashes can be an indication of what your problem might be.

hmm I'll look at fuse 10. :) It could even be that where I have the LC1 hooked up is seeing a crazy voltage drop during cranking and it is affected.

Yes, the LED light is hooked up. When the vehicle is running, I should see the led flash until the heater goes out then stay on? Mine does eventually go out.

I am giving it plenty of time to warm up as well.

Try hooking your 02 sensor up to a relay lead coming out of the fuel pump power from the MS system, that way if the motor is not running the 02 sensor won't sit there burning away.

When I first wired it, I was thinking just that. I think i'll go with that :)

Are you sure the LC1 is getting voltage WHILE starting? Some 12v sources go dead when the switch is in the start position.

Ran a thick ground for the LC-1, it was rebooting, probably picking up ignition noise. Grounded the MS, LC-1 and gauge the the same point. All better.

Yeah, during my troubleshooting that was my concern, I ran a wire right to the battery and powered it that way. It was that which led me to a better ground :)
