Damn. I am not good at making blogs. And am pretty short in terms of time for properly documenting such project. But basically here's where I am going to for my 2002 racecar.
S14 motor
DTM airbox
Megasquirt V3 with Alpha-N
5 speed OD
Alpina style racing pedal box
The S14 motor.
It came from a wrecked M3 which was "straightened" then an abandoned project for 7 years. The front of the motor doesn't seem to have ben hit, but the AC compressor bracket is broken. Also, maybe it is from the accident, maybe not, but there is an air connector between both TBs, and it is slightly cracked. I need to find another one.
Ideally, I wanted to simply degunk the motor and install it. But there was so much gunk that I got suspicious. The motor had major oil leaks from the lower front cover, and tons of black silicone wqs used to cover the source of the leak. Also, it looks like the motor was rebuilt at some time (cluster shows 100K miles though) as a lot of orange silicone was used EVERY FUCKING WHERE. My plan is to take the engine apart and reinstall new gaskets where needed, and proper ornage and blue sealant where required. I popped the cam cover and everything looked new. No gunk in there. Probably the accident happened not long after the accident. Thw sparplugs were also brand new, not even torqued.
Fo the oil pan. I already have cut up an S14 spare and it is ready at the machine shop for welding, with an increased 1 quart extension.
Tranny. As I will be using MS3, no need to transfer the sesnor from the S14 bellhousing onto the e21 tranny.
I have designed a 36-1 trigger wheel and ma trying not to cut pr grind the TDC pin on the front cover. I will use EDIS so no need for a front distributor. I will block the hole with Massive's exhaust cam block-off plate.
The engine itself will be stripped to a minimum. So, obviously no AC, no power steering pump, but also no oil vapor recirculator, and a few coolant hoses less as I am using an e21 radiator. So, I am blocking the tiny coolant tube near intake #1.
