think I can just write checks. I'm going to subframe my 49 Buick with a Camaro front stub and clean out the enclosed driveline stuff. drive line will end up more modern with front and maybe rear discs 350 automatic mild chevy 355. I will have to take pictures to prove it, lol!

Andy, you say that like it is a bad thing. There is nothing to be ashamed of ;). You write good check. My check writing is not so hot.

I know jack about Buicks but that is a cool looking car and I can envision how it would be bad ass after some work.

The collection has expanded or contracted since your move from NC? I saw the 02 Pick-Up is done, right? Your wagon is a very cool project.

Are you going to mod the 'double-wide' in the background?

I see security-system potential south african style with those fireports along the fender there... ;-)

this is part of the "Compound" The trailer just houses one of my "families"! Just kidding, of course. This is the storage yard at the shop. I worked a few hours today. I think it was about 100 in the shop and I am old and fat...

fenders and hood off

knocked the steering linkage loose and got the steering column etc loose.

Camaro front stub. Next I'll clean the firewall of the rest of the junk. and then cut it and use new sheet metal for a nice smooth firewall. Lot more space to work in probably sheered 4 or 5 bolts today. I won't bug you with the rest. I will post a picture of the engine in though!

It would be way-cool if you suicided the doors and made the front clip flip forward, like the F-100 guys do. If you want to go real rad, you should mid-engine the thing, and drop a stereo in the front bay. Like this:

This thing is as big as my Expedition on the inside and it is only a 2 door. I don't know how far it will go past modern drive train. 49 Buick convertibles and 2 doors are pretty rare. Which doesn't mean that much except the parts are outrageously expensive. I had to buy a 4 door parts car just to get the grill and bumpers. this one had "Riviera" side trim. it is curved not straight and will probably cost me as much as an Alpina injection system.

Thanks for the link! There are some cool cars on that site.

I would love to build a '64 Coupe de Ville rod some day. I just love the styling on those barges.

Yes indeed, and there also are some atrocious social-error-of-a-kit cars on that site, also. If there is a general trend, I would say that anything based on a Fiero tends to be a social error; same with the trikes; by contrast, most of the companies that have a Gasser of some sort, seem to have their act(s) together. Oh, and there are far too many Cobra-car merchants - but at least they are all there for the browsing. Of course, some of the cars are way-way-cool (the steel bodied early Fords, the fiberglass lead sled), and I drool daily over the thought of the perfect "next project." Just imagine the size subwoofer I could fit in the trunk of a Willys gasser.

I cut the frame, but my welding sucked. It's only been about 20 something years. I couldn't see and John took over the welding. I get to weld some shelfs until I get my groove. Anyway, that sucked but the welds on the SF are beautiful and the car was fully subbed and able to bear weight in about 7 hours. I am going to try the plasma cutter to cut the firewall. I know I can swap the rear ends on my own. It now has a 1974 Z28 front stub with a the rear end (LS) going in on Friday or Saturday.
