Blunt- have you seen the new flat subs? They sound pretty nice.

Have you tried or hear them in action?

Did you even READ the post. I did hear it. It was installed in the footwell of a 997. Very crisp and tight bass.

Make a box out of your underseat area.

Blunt,
are those 6.5 inch speakers? If they are, did you have to cut metal to accomidate the magnet?

yes they are 6.5. i had a set of competition alpines i got from a buddy but they were too deep. then carl sent me a pair of shallow mount 6.5 infinity reference speakers. i had to trim just a little bit with a body saw and they fit nicely. i used the alpine grilles because they were a lot less flashy

Blunt, you know my opinion on subs. Email me offline so we can get into more detail, and/or do some brainstorming - I have some ideas. In any event, I need to buy something from you, so give me a holler. davidbowen5828 at comcast dot net.

thanks otis. i have a JL audio 10W1 in a sealed box i built for the rear footwell but it just looks goofy back there. i really wanted as close to a stealth audio system as i could get. i put the box in the trunk but wasnt happy with the sound back there so for now it sits on my back seat. i can pull it out for shows if need be. i may try my hand at a form fitting fiberglass enclosure for the rear footwell that isnt so big. maybe sacrifice a little volume for a less obtrusive look. if i make it fire downward it would be hard to even spot unless you stuck your head in

Anyone ever used one of these:

http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?g=51000&i=023THB200A&c=3&tp=114&avf=N&tab=features_and_specs

It's not extremely powerful, but if you're just wanting to fill out the sound a little it looks like it would fit under the back seat and doesn't require building anything.

It's even German. :)
