Does anyone know if a BMW E24 leather Sport interior will fit into my 2002? I doubt the rears will fit, but would the fronts squeeze in? Thanks, Kilian

I actually seen the E24 back seat only in an 02 not the front. There is a couple of people on here that had it done nicely.

I don't know if the fronts will fit but the rears do indeed fit and look and feel awesome. There's a good writeup in the archives on how to trim the fiberglass rear bucket shells to make this work. I finished this up last weekend by following the instructions and the minimal effort was well worth it. I have e21 recaros in the front and both sets, plus the e24 rear center console were upholstered by Dave Varco at aardvarc racing. If you have any doubts contact Dave.

Thanks gents for the responses. I like the look of those rear seats. Will see if I can find out if the fronts fit.

My regular seats are killing me. Spring enemas and slipped discs are a constant peril...

Hi Joe, Funny to see my car there in that photo! Terenure is on again soon, will be thinking of you when we're there. Remember Ken's Baur? How perfect a car was that!! Kids are great, we just moved to a house out in the country with a garden – and a driveway! Say hi to Moms for me,

K

the front seat mounts and seats changed sometime during the 6 series life. The early seats, including recaros as per the e21, look like they'd drop straight into an 02 (but I've not done it) - the later seats look more in common with the e30 in as much as they'd sit way too high. HTH

early seats - good:

later seats - bad:

I am in the process right now just need to clean up the loose ends and color the leather black. I cut out half of the back, where the wheel well is. i could have cut it all out but wanted the seats to sit flush with the center console.Top of seats will need to be covered but that will be next, about a 2inch gap.

Hi,

I've done the same thing with the back seat. I still have to make a new backpanel because the bucket seats don't sit against the back and leave holes. (and I'll cover it in leather or vinyl)
I also have the leather front seats (from a 2nd series e24), they are electric and look very similar to the e30 seats.

I'm thinking about installing them in a fixed position by making some brackets to bolt onto the seats frame and to the underside of the standard sideframes that are welded to the body. Soo that the seats drop between these sideframes and you don't sit soo high.
I've been measuring and I think it's possible. But it's not a bolt in job and I'm still working on it.

nice work. I've done the same but I am now considering the seat belt set up. What belts did you use and how did you attach the female coupling?

Steve, I'm in Celbridge.

There's two 02s that I know of in Celbridge, and Tom Curley has two in various states of repair in Allenwood. (He's a great man to get in touch with if you need work done - knows his old beemers inside out) There is a meeting of vintage BMW owners every second Tuesday of the month at the Spawell hotel at around 8pm. We are going en masse to the Terenure show next month. Might see you there! Kilian

Nick, Thanks for the info. Excuse my ignorance, but are these new or old ones?

that be right. but note they're from an e12 saloon and the rears are bound to be a lot bigger and won't work without a lot of butchery/trimming. Just double check the fronts have the tilt lever for rear access - even though they're from a 4 door I'm pretty sure they have this facility, but worth making sure before you cough up the readies

They are speakers, but it's just an example of what I'm going to make.
