sorry to pull it off. We are suspecting that it is responsible for the server downtime. We temporally disabled. If it is the culprit, we will fix it. If it is not, we will bring it back in two weeks.
I know you guys use it a lot, so we will try to do everything we can to keep it alive.

I think there will be a lot less traffic because its gone. I always use that feature on ANY forum i visit.

it's not the traffic overall, but some individual requests to the database that take a long time. We think this is one of them. If it is we'll need to optimize it a bit.

I'll have some time this weekend to check it out.
Yeah when you click that button sometimes the query is so huge its throwing a giant load on the server .. but not everybody and not every time i don't think, but once in a while it just barfs everything.
I'm working on it .. now if only someone could sort out the wiring on my 75

Seems like the real issue is with how dreamhost does the backups and some issues with query logging that I can't get access to. The view posts thing was a symptom not the cause most likely
