Subject: I suppose I need a clutch.

My car has a 240 five speed. The friction point is near the top of the travel of the clutch pedal. My guess is that I need a clutch...what do you think.

Maybe so. If it is not slipping I'd not worry much, yet. High hp motors are not so easy on stock clutches. Not sure what you are running.

Pretty standard on the 5- speed conversion...

Details, details? The fact that your clutch engages near the top of the pedal means a lot, but not necessarily that you need to replace your clutch.

How many miles is on the current clutch pressure plate and disk? What is the poop about your master and slave cylinder? Age? Condition?

You did not state the clutch slips or is slipping. Is it? Sounds to me as though the clutch is operating properly. What do you want it to do? DisEngage only at the bottom of the pedal travel?
