Subject: Transmission interchangeability

Can I swap any transmission between 66-73?

Are 75-76 different?

Not concerned with Porsche vs BW synchros, etc. just need to know if they will bolt in and if the shifter platforms, etc. will line up. I know to look out for 3 hole vs 4 hole.

thanks.

For the most part with some minor differences. You are already aware of the 3 hole versus 4 hole output flanges.

Shifter platforms (early and newer) can be swapped around if needed between the older and newer trannys for the most part.

The earlier trannys 66-68 were available with a mechanical clutch assembly so no hydraulic slave cylinder is present but the hole/cutout is in place if you need it. And, the early trannys have no hole for use with a timing gun.
