Subject: OT- WTB E30 M3

Before I post on S14 I thought I'd check here to see if anyone was interested in selling a M3. I'm not looking for project or track car.

here's part of the 'wish' list
- -150k (but will consider others)
- no rust
- subtle mods are good
- sunroof

We can discuss price.

Thanks,

Thanks Andy, I saw that one. Looks real nice, but I was reading about it on the bimmerforums. From what they posted after looking at it - the engine warning lights are all on, it has poor paint and electrical issues. I am looking for one with a S14.

Hi,

It sounds like possibly you may not be all that familiar with the "real" M3 as we like to call them - all US-spec cars have a sunroof, unless a PO has sealed it up. The only US-available options were CD changer and color choice - they all came identically loaded. Also, E30 M3s do not have any "check engine" lights, so I'm not sure what sort of information you are seeing on S14.net. (although there is a "check panel for lights, coolant, etc, but not "engine") Sometimes S14's info can be a bit dubious. Here is a good site for some basic info, run by the same person who runs the M3 SIG - http://www.bimmers.com/m3/spotter/index.html

Just use the drop-down menu to the right and you can get some good basic info on the cars.

I've had mine as a daily driver for 7 years now, and at 208K miles and counting, it's still a ball to drive. It's essentially stock and NFS. Good luck in your search - if you find a potential car, make sure to have a knowledgeable M3 person check it out - they have a lot of quirks, but they don't require a witch doctor.

David,
You are correct, I am not that familiar with the car as I should be, but I am learning as I search and hearing from other owners. The link you posted is great and very helpful.

It was not on s14 that I read the members post on the Ebay car but on the bimmerforums site.

Thanks.

Ahh, I see. Sorry, missed the Bimmerforum part.

Proper Aux. fan function is vital, and is a common failure part. (usually the wiring and/or connector, not too often the fan) Years of heat under the hood on the header side cooks the harness pretty good, plus all the vibration tends to really wear heavily on the wiring, esp. up in that corner. Also, be aware that there is a phantom Craiglist offering showing up all over the country - price is too good to be true, so beware.
