Looks like a score Pat,
I use uship.com to get the 74 up to me, only $300 for the 11hour drive.

So far the cheapest shipping is ~200 bucks. I'm beginning to fear that my girlfriend will be pissed at me for this.

I know the feeling. My wife was all for me getting rid of that '82 7 series. She just wasn't happy when I told her that I was trading it for an even older car that didn't run at all. For some reason in her mind, that was even worse. :)

Still working in the financial side of things. Meaning saving up for a welder, engine lift, engine stand, and paint supplies to at least get the engine bay done while it's empty. Frame rail repair is the first project, followed by all new brake lines.

I finally got a good job again. It took several months between the time I applied and the time they actually hired me, but I start August 20th and it's about 5 minutes from my house. :)

do you have access to a trailer?
i recently bought a car about 700km away and towed it back, it may be cheaper to do it that way instead of getting it transported..just a thought

Don't have a trailer or anything to pull one with. Getting it shipped for $200

So the plan is to be a safe distance away from your angry girlfriend when it shows up? ;)

Won't it cost you around $100 in gas if you do it yourself, not counting any other expenses? $200 sounds like a great deal.

Just my lazy-ass opinion...

Got it yesterday. REALLY rust free. The underside is as clean as a whistle. The nose damage looks worse than it is. Mostly just the grills. The interior from my rwecked 76 will be swapped in and I will do some paint work on it - maybe a full respray. The battery is charging today and I will start her tomorrow.

Patrick eventually sold this car to me. I doubt his girlfriend ended up too pissed at him. It was listed on ebay as a parts car, which is the last thing I'd call it -- it has very little rust, runs, and drives straight, and it doesn't have much in the way of parts that anybody would want. (Rob, if you really want the steering wheel, let me know -- but you probably don't.)

I actually drove it from Houston to Austin, which seems ridiculous in hindsight. Luckily the officer that pulled me over was very friendly and only gave me a warning. The car needs a new clutch (which Patrick made clear) and a lot of wiring, but othewise made the trip without any problems.

I'm going to take some pictures and start a new thread for it.
