Very cool! Nardi steering wheel & all!

First thing I thought of after realizing it's a 700 Racer, is a Porsche 550 Spider! Don't know why. Both are very cool cars in their day I suppose...and lots of racing history.

The fuel tank is in the front. I had a 700CS and a 700 Luxus. I wish that I could have kept them. G

Although a 550 Spyder is worth just a tad more money...

I NEVER SAW ONE WITH THE EXTERNAL FUEL DOOR .
WITH THE REGULAR 700s , YOU HAD TO OPEN THE FRONT TO ACCESS
THE FUEL FILLER . NOT AN UNCOMMON FEATURE ON GERMAN CARS OF THE PERIOD . THE VW DIDN'T GET AN EXTERNAL FILLER UNTILL 1968 .

BMW DID A LOT TO SUPPORT RACING PROGRAMS FOR THE 700 .
THEY OFFERED A LOT OF SPECIAL PARTS . I SUSPECT THAT THE
FUEL DOOR WAS THERE TO SPEED UP THE PIT STOP PROCESS .

THE 700cs ENGINE I HAVE IN THE SUPER-SETTA HAS A BEAUTIFUL
FINNED ALUMINUM OIL SUMP . THIS WAS A NOS ITEM I GOT ON GERMAN E-BAY . THE NORMAL OIL PANS WERE STAMPED FROM STEEL .

NATURALLY , ALL ISETTAS HAD AN EXTERNAL FUEL FILL , CUTTING EDGE BUT DON'T LOOSE THE CAP !
