They want $175 just for the part--and I won't pay that much--so, I guess I say no more than $100.

on May 24th, 1968 to the BMW importer Hoffman Motors Corp. in New York City.
The original colour was Chamonix, paint code 085.

Do it yourself is a fairly easy job. I did mine about a month ago. They are charging for about 3 hours of labor.

Also Bav auto has the pump with gasket for 45.00 dolla

Subject: DIY waterpump change is easy...if you don't have A/C

Two hose clamps and four bolts, and the radiator is out (drain it first, of course)

Unbolt the fan & its pulley from the water pump (4 bolts), pop the fan belt loose.

Six or so bolts around the water pump and it's loose from the engine.

Clean the mating surfaces, goo up a new gasket and fit it to the pump.

Reinstall everything.

You're done. $$$ saved, lotsa satisfaction!

You should be able to find a good german aftermarket pump like Graff or Geba or Laso brands for less than $65. Shop around! bavauto.com shows $44.95 for what by the picture appears to be a Graff pump.
