Dirt we should hook up you can show me the trails here in the area. I haven't gotten out on my MTB in awhile.

I'm in lame-ass shape right now, but It would be fun to get out. I ride with the local mountain bike club fairly often. They're a great source for trail info.

Catch up with you soon. Send me an e-mail through the FAQ and we can sync up on some winter riding.

Pete

Me too, but not bad shape for a over the hill guy as my wife calls me.
Thanks for the link.

Dirt-

Where are you located? I'm in Richmond. I also have a '75 Rustbucket. Its Jadegrun or was originally, now it is various companies' differing shades of primer. UGH! I am going to California in April to visit friends but most importantly to bring back a nice shell to transplant. Can't wait. Getting lots of good info from people on here.

Bikes: No pictures but I ride a 2005 Klein Attitude (it was an Adroit, see story below)

I was riding a 1996 Klein Adroit, bought new at Agee's in Richmond when during a ride in the summer of 2005 the frame broke in Forest Hill park. It snapped on the chain stay just a few inches from the rear derailleur. I was crushed. I knew that Klein had a lifetime warranty but mine was one of the last ones to come out of pre-Trek Klein.

Anyway I hauled the bike to Agee's the next day and they said that they would strip the bike send it to WI to Trek get a new frame back and re-install my old crap parts. It seemed to take a long time and phone calls to Agee's were answered with "we're having problems with Trek but we'll get it worked out". So after more than two months, the bike shop called and said my bike was ready.

I go in the next day and they bring my back from the back. As they bring it out, I just about passed out. I was expecting a new frame with 10 year old junk parts and what I received was a ~$3000. brand new bike. The problem had been that Klein had changed the frame set-ups(no brake bosses for v-brakes etc.) and so none of my junk would fit, but they stuck by the warranty. So, I got $3000 bike where there had been a $1600 10 year old, ridden to hell and back worn out bike. Sorry so long winded, I just love that story. Reminds me to support my local guys and to buy quality and yes sometimes that is american made.

I can't imagine the response I would get if I returned my chinese made tool for disintegrating as I used it. Anyway, easy to ramble when it Friday and I'm getting paid.

Of well, Let me know where you live in VA and if there are other '02 owners around.

Phil.

Hey Phil. I live in the DC area. I know. Anyone who lives outside of Northern Virginia doesn't consider anything near the Beltway to be "Virginia".

I do ride a few times per year in the Richmond area. I've raced the 12 hours of Lodi Farms twice now and loved/hated every moment. I'm hoping that by the end of the month that work will ease up enough for me to work on my rust bucket and ride my bike a little more often.

I know... good luck with that. :D

Great news about a new shell for your 02. That sounds like a great project.

Phil,

there is an MS 150 ride around Charlottesville in June. I'm going to be riding it. there are 25, 50, 75, and 100 mile options.

check here for more info:

www.mstourdevine.org

i'm shooting for the century...i need to be able to get 100 miles in if i'm gonna do STP in july. i just picked up this trainer to get my butt in riding shape for the warm weather:

are you a BMW CCA member, Phil? If so, you should be in the Blue Ridge chapter. I'm the Blue Ridge chapter secretary. It would sure be nice to have another 02 running around the club. There are a handful of us 02ers in Charlottesville and a a few in Richmond.
